Throm|bin 〈n. 11〉 ein eiweißspaltendes Enzym, wichtigstes Element bei der Blutgerinnung, das in einer Vorstufe (Prothrombin) im Blut enthalten ist

Throm|bin [↑ Thromb- u. ↑ -in (3)], das; -s; veraltetes Syn.: Fibrinogenase: ein proteolytisch wirksames Glykoprotein (Serin-Proteinase) aus zwei, durch Disulfidbrücke verbundenen Peptidketten mit 49 bzw. 259 Aminosäuren u. MG 39 000. T. bewirkt die Gerinnung des Blutes, indem es in diesem die Bildung von Fibrin aus Fibrinogen katalysiert, wozu es allerdings erst durch Ca2+ u. eigtl. Gerinnungsfaktoren (↑ Fibrin) aus seiner inaktiven Vorstufe ↑ Prothrombin (Zymogen) freigesetzt werden muss.
